Getting Student Loan Help
October 5, 2011 at 3:21 pm , by admin
The number of recent college graduates that need student loan help has skyrocketed in recent years, with as many as 10% of Federal student loan accounts going into default and almost as bad numbers in the private sector. More and more ex-students are leaving school only to find that there is little opportunity awaiting them in the labor market. Extended unpaid internships and part time jobs that don’t pay the bills are the new norm, and leaving college to enjoy a $45,000 a year paycheck is a pipe dream for far too many people. How is one left to pay off those thousands of dollars in loans if they are barely making enough money to survive?
This is why so many people drastically need student loan help. Loans can’t be deferred or stuck in forbearance forever, and instead many people are falling into default and worse debt. Defaulted loans can lead to having wages garnished, and credit scores so bad that they prevent a person from buying a car or renting an apartment. Far too many graduates are moving back home with their parents as a result.
However there are options out there. It is possible to find help with your loans by looking around on the internet. There are a number of government programs that can get your repayment back on track and lower your rates, and private companies specializing in advocating for the borrowers are popping up left and right. Use these programs and advocates to right your financial ship before it gets wrecked, the costs of a default are hard to bear and will impact your life for years to come. You can avoid it, and these programs can help.
